AVIATION

In the air above our heads right now are thousands of tonnes of luxury goods in large aircraft that use many litres of fuel per second, with fuel tanks that are over two hundred thousand litres – think about that next time you fill-up the family car!

Luxury goods & freight like hundreds of thousands of fresh flowers per day, racing cars, live seafood, extremely frightened live sheep, goats & cows off to a faraway land to be slaughtered, racehorses flying to their next race where the winner receives many millions. All this is the realm of a man with money. I find it extremely sad for mankind, nothing highlights the gap between the rich & poor more when a person can be flying over an impoverished country that has famine and death…but, at 40000ft in a multimillion-dollar luxury aircraft, one can enjoy all the luxuries of a five-star meal cooked by a chef, bottles of wine, shopping with the products already on board & have a shower in your own flying bathroom, before going to sleep in your own flying bedroom without a care in the world! “Wealthy frequent-flyers who comprise just 1% of the world’s population generate half of the global aviation industry’s carbon emissions with their constant jet-setting.

Billions of litres of fuel being converted to millions of tonnes of CO2 in the high in the atmosphere isn’t a good thing for our planet. When our forests & oceans that absorb such CO2 are being raped and pillaged at an alarming rate, we need urgent action NOW. Action paid for by a “Luxury Tax” on these extremely wealthy individuals that fly first class or in private jets, the ones eating “live” Lobster flown in from faraway places, the ones that fly their racehorses & race cars around the world to race for millions. This money can start creating much-needed jobs by the thousands in rural areas across the globe. To start planting & maintaining a reforestation project on a massive scale never seen before, and to clean, protect and restock the oceans on a global level. Ultimately tax the ultrarich that use massive amounts of the resources of the world and use that money to create jobs that directly improve the environment.
